Listen, toxicity WILL happen. It’s a fools errand to think we could ever 100% eliminate trolls & assholes. But when streamers actively push for positive & inclusive environments it makes a hugeee difference. I’m super grateful to my followers for always being so dope & chill 🖤

This happens in the music industry as well. I’ve seen bands with extremely toxic fanbases and they never acknowledge or condemn their fans’ behavior. We’ve always actively promoted a kind and inclusive fan base that feels like a family and our fans honor that.

My following is obviously incredibly tiny compared to that of the bigger steamers, but I’ve managed to maintain an extremely non toxic twitch chat with very little moderation by being vigilant and strict. And now my chat holds themselves and others accountable for their behavior.

As the article says, streamers can’t physically control their followers’ actions but I do believe it’s their/our responsibility to do everything possible to at least condemn toxicity.
